Shenzhen’s first nighttime sports festival for the general public will bring running, recreational sports, live music and a food market to Longhua District on Sept. 19 and 20.

The free event will run from 4 to 9 p.m. each day at the football field of the Longhua Culture and Sports Center. Participants must register online in advance.

Designed as an after-work outdoor gathering rather than a professional competition, the festival welcomes people of all ages and fitness levels. No specialist equipment or previous sporting experience is required.

More than 10 recreational sports activities will be offered, including individual challenges and team games. Participants can collect stamps by completing activities and exchange them for gifts.

A "fluorescent night run" will also take place on the center’s 400-meter track. Runners can collect a glowing wristband after checking in and complete the course at their own pace. A limited-edition medal will be available to those who finish the 5-kilometer run.

The festival will extend beyond the sports field. Participants can record their weight and exercise time online to earn points redeemable for discounts at participating shopping centers. On-site activities will include a lucky draw offering mystery prizes.

A market will feature food, beverages, sports-themed cultural products and stalls showcasing Longhua’s local sports scene. Live bands and audience games will provide entertainment on an outdoor stage throughout the evening.

The two-day event aims to make exercise more accessible by combining casual sporting activities with dining, shopping, music and social interaction. It offers residents and visitors an easy way to get moving, meet people and enjoy an active evening in Longhua.
